Reading Exam 1

Read the text and answer the questions.

                -No, I can’t love it.

said Ahmet.

That was the only problem between them. After spending 4 years in the same school, they added another 4 years to their friendship; now they were staying in the same house which they had rented when they entered the same university. This was a small house with a sea view and it seemed somehow forgotten among the large apartment blocks as it was quite cheap. A wonderful pretty little house for university students. Each had his own duties in the house: Ahmet cooked delicious meals in the little saucepan which Ersin had cleaned. Ahmet would clean the windows while it was Ersin’s duty to keep the floor clean. They would even share their shoes. However, when it came to cats,

                -I hate them all!

Ahmet would say energetically. “How can one love them?” he often asked himself. Ersin asked the opposite question. Neither of them could find an answer.

One day, in a rainy evening in İstanbul, when they had both missed their hometown very much, the door was knocked. Ahmet jumped up and ran to the door. Ersin wanted to know who it was. But he had to wait. A few minutes later, Ahmet appeared with

                -A cat!

in his hands. Ersin couldn’t believe his eyes. But there it was. Ahmet was standing with a cat on his head, smiling.

-Look, this is a black cat. Mother has sent it. Isn’t it lovely?
