The Fox and the Monkey – Ezop Masalı
28 Mayıs 2020A fox and a monkey were walking together. They had a dispute: which one had nobler ancestors? They kept arguing for some time. Then they came to a cemetery. It was full of monuments. The monkey stopped and looked around and sighed. The fox asked, “Why do you sigh?” The monkey pointed to the tombs and said, “All these monuments were put up here in honour of my ancestors. They were all important men in their time.” The fox didn’t speak at first. He didn’t know what to say. Then he recovered and said, “Oh! don’t stop at any lie, sir; you’re quite safe: I’m sure none of your ancestors will rise up and expose you.”
Boasters show off most when nobody can understand that they are lying.
