The Bear and the Travellers – Ezop Masalı

Two travellers were walking together. Suddenly a bear appeared on the way. Before the bear saw them, one of the travellers ran towards a tree at the side of the road, and climbed up into the branches and hid there. The other traveller was not very quick. He could not escape. So, he threw himself on the ground and pretended to be dead. The bear came and sniffed all around him. The traveller held his breath because he thought that a bear will not touch a dead man, and he was right! The bear thought he was dead and went away. When there was no danger, the traveller on the tree came down. “What did the bear tell you?”, he asked. The other traveller replied, “He told me that I mustn’t travel with a friend who deserts you at the first sign of danger.
Misfortune tests the sincerity of friendship.
